    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed very much this insight because of the organization and people trying to make us feel how a day is like in such a company. The employees at J.P.Morgan were very friendly and supportive and they told us many things which will guide us in the future. We were exposed to different people with different roles in the company and this was one of the greatest things here.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The company has a very supportive culture and all people try to make you feel like you are from there, that you can easily contribute to the organization and you can receive help immediately if you need it. I was feeling valued and helped a lot in terms of making relationships with people there.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We had a teamwork project to do and we had mentors who gave us ideas to improve or to think from a different point of view, which is one of the important things in this company, and we also had talks after that in which we discussed what things were done not very well, how you need to think during a difficult time, so there was great support there.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I strongly believe that my teamwork skills were developed as well as communication. Also, I could say that my analytical skills have improved, even if I come from a mathematics and computer science degree. The information I received will help for the future internships and interviews and later on at the job.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It is my belief that the insight was very well structured, with every hour filled in a good way. Of course there were breaks, but I do not take into account these. The chance to speak with so many people in the company was great and you had the idea of what is going to happen when you will be there. Also, the social events were positive and the atmosphere was great.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere seemed to be both professional and friendly, which is absolutely incredible. The chance to meet different people was important and we were very well treated. In projects we had also a great time, even if we were put under pressure(intentionally) by the people who were there to assess our work.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight gave me a huge idea of what the culture was like at J.P. Morgan and this was one part of the firm which I was extremely impressed with. Everyone knows that during a career in investment banking you will work long hours, so being part of a team where everyone gets on and everyone is helpful is very useful in assisting you to enjoy your work rather than dreading the long hours. The diversity at J.P. Morgan is also very exciting, the chance to work with individuals with a huge range of skill sets is something which I think will progress my career quickly.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • My mind is now set on a career in investment banking. Before the spring week, I was unsure about whether it would interest me. There is only a certain amount reading can do when you want to go into a career. So getting first-hand experience of what working at J.P. Morgan would be like really gave me a passion for the industry.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • J.P.Morgan provided accomodation for me and also purchased the train for me to get to Glasgow. Breakfast and lunch were also provided daily and social events were full with delicious food.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of opportunities for networking during the week, the chance to network with employees from investment banking and risk. These employees were all at different stages of their career from analysts up to managing directors. Being able to talk to all these individuals enabled me to get a feel of the progression present at J.P. Morgan and that if you start at the firm, you probably won't leave.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking afternoon tea's during the week were very beneficial. The social events were very good and gave us a good chance to interact with our colleague's on the Spring week. However, one point I would make is that it would have been nice to network with other employees at the bank within Investment banking at the social events.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • I didn't hear much about the activities that employees do outside of work apart from the volunteering present at the company - also adding to the attractive culture of the firm. When it came to what the employees do outside of work though not much was mentioned - most conversations were work based.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?

Morgan to get a further understanding of the firm and a real feel of what working life is like there.
