    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I am enjoying the internship greatly and the spring week has exceeded my expectations hugely. I have met some very inspiring and amazing interns who I have forged bonds with which will last a lifetime. The two weeks have pushed me to reach my potential and I am grateful to have been given this opportunity.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I have been sitting between two desks within Investment Management and I have felt extremely valued and close to my colleges. They have included me in client phone calls and morning briefings which has given me a good insight into what it is like to work here whilst giving me a feel for the environment at Goldman.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • For the first two days we were given advice and support on how to make the most of the spring week. This helped me hugely and I felt very well prepared when going to the desks. Although they taught us a great deal of information regarding the division I also have learnt a lot shadowing the associates and analysts too.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I am studying Economics so I feel as if the information I have learnt will be very useful for the finance side of my PPE course. I have also learnt many new skills such as talking and interacting with clients and how finance is structured and what roles banks in general play in the world economy.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well organised with events and sessions and panels and workshops and focus groups assigned for specific times in the two weeks. They have also allowed us desk time which is essentially free time where we can work and mingle with colleges and other interns whilst working on the desk and completing tasks and projects.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Everyone here is willing to give you their time and offer their help if you simply ask them. I have enjoyed being in a fast pace and stimulating environment with people who are high achievers and act as role models for me. I have enjoyed my time here a huge deal.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm have helped develop my skills and qualities through specialist training schemes. They have given us exposure to a number of various people who work here and allowed us independence in meeting up with them to network. They have allowed us access to the services at Goldman which are available on the public domain too.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The two weeks are a very short period of time to understand what it is fully like to work here but I have been able to shadow FA's and Managers on my desk who have told me what they do day to day and what the office is like in general outside of Easter holidays. I have got a good taste of the working environment too.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight has given us many talks and opportunities to network and meet people. I have learnt a lot, from senior employees who have been here a number of years, what the culture is really like here. They have given us the companies business principles and told us what exactly the company stands and how we should behave as employees representing the firm.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • As a young intern I am still deciding my career path but the insight has helped me decide if finance is suitable for me as a potential career path. I have learnt things I did not know before and the content in general has given me a good insight into what it would be like to work here

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed for one return journey to and from Birmingham and the expenses were given back in cash on the first day. We are also being paid for this Spring Week which is due to be paid to us at the end of the two weeks on Friday evening.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were a great deal of such opportunities which had to mostly be done off your own back. We were informed that we should attempt to meet with as many people as possible during the spring week. I have met for coffees with many individuals and we have had a number of networking events for us and our mentors who are individuals who have been in our position before and so are able to give relevant and useful help

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • They were fun and relaxing. They were helpful and useful. They offered food and drinks and we could meet and mingle with as many people as we could. They were well organised and very fun to attend as they were fairly informal and relaxed. The networking was good for building links and meeting new people

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We had a whole panel session on what things there were to do outside of work and Goldman do a number of different events for women, employees of color and LGBT employees. They are open to anyone and are good for showcasing minorities on a large scale. There is also a gym in the building

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend the insight to a friend and I would tell them to take any opportunities given to them and network as much as possible and build up their network. There are some amazing people at Goldman who can help you progress and succeed in life and this opportunity should be taken up with both hands
