    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement. the small business meant that I was given some really great experiences and responsibilities. I felt passionately about the brand, the owner and the products she lovingly designed which is a massive help within a PR role as you are selling a product to the press effectively.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Massively. they really trusted me and I felt like a real member of the team. they trusted my opinion and asked my thoughts on a lot of the day to day decisions which really made me feel valued and as if I were an actual full time member of the team not just an intern. I felt this across the business too not only the team I was interning within

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My PR Manager helped me so much and gave me lots of useful feedback and guidance. even the CEO [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] was always around to offer advice and support. the other team members in ither deparments were also very helpful and always happy to help me learn and tech me new things that would help me in all areas of the business.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I took over the social channels and press posting with the aim of growing these which was really great and kept me busy. it also felt like a great sense of achievement to grow an element of the brand and to see the result if my hard work. I didn't struggle to find work or feel like I was constantly asking for things to do. if I had any spare time I would find a number of things to do such as organising the press clippings or sample cupboards.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • as detailed above I was trusted with managing the social channels and was even invited to the press day where I was trusted to speak with the journalists so this felt great and I really felt like they trusted me as a valued member if the team. I didn't feel like just an extra pair of hands that was just there to do whatever odd job was available.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • massively. as well as giving a taste for a real working environment, it provides you with real life experiences such as talking with journalists that you may not usually get. the best value to my degree was learning how a brand works and the value and identity of a brand and how this sells to the press. speaking with journalists on a daily basis was an invaluable experience that I believe will help me within my degree and further.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • really great. everyone gets on really well, nicks in when something goes wrong and celebrates together when something goes well. it is only a small office and therefore everyone is involved in all areas of the business and therefore feels some responsibility a d pride for every element of the business and working day.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • pretty well. although I didn't have a clear intern plan or path of development, I always felt like I had clear tasks and aims for the day and didn't feel like I was just hanging around to be asked to do something. by the end of the placement I had definitely grown and learnt a lot from the team and could use the achievements of my placement to go back to my degree and also to discuss in interviews in the future as a great real working experience within my chosen field.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I really think they did. they spent a lot of time passing on their own knowledge and giving me tasks that they knew would benefit me personally, explaining each stage and offering good advice that would help me grow. although I was not paid for my placement, the team were always very understanding of my situation and would offer help with travel or even simple things like lunch and giving me products or vouchers to enjoy. when I attended the press day out of my normal placement hours the CEO gave me an incredibly generous voucher to spend on any of the products I wanted
