    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had a really good time on A&O First. The most interesting part of the insight was the work-shadowing element but there were a few duller sessions.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • It was nice to see that, despite being one of the leading firms in the world, A&O wanted to make a good impression on us. It was also cool to see that the departments are tight-knit groups with all the members of one of them coming together to wish another team member a happy birthday.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Having a buddy was great as he talked me through his experience, which was really helpful considering we come from non-law backgrounds. Additionally, when I asked for advice on applications to internships and vacation schemes, my buddy sent me an email packed with useful information that is applicable to a career in law as well as careers another sectors.

    5/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • 4/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • For the large part the insight gave me a good look into the dynamic of A&O. Having the third day of the programme several months away from the first two was great as it allowed me to gain an insight into another department. Nevertheless, I do wish that we had more work-shadowing time or perhaps an opportunity to have seen more departments.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was generally good but there were dull moments on the insight (having said that, there are always going to be dull parts to anything). It was nice to have a casual event at Bounce to help us mingle with others on the programme too.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The session on interviews was useful as we discussed how we would go about preparing and answering certain questions.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • My buddy and a few of the others were helpful in describing their day-to-day. Having an insight into different departments helped me see that your work is varied depending on where you are.

    4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • 3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • My buddy took me around the departments he was in to introduce other members of his team who gave me their opinions on their career. There were also several sessions where we were able to talk to employees and ask questions about how they got to where they are and what they do.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The opportunities were a little short but the employees I met were helpful and keen to share their view of the firm.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 2/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • 5/5
