The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of interning at Goldman Sachs. Meeting great people, making an impact in their business and developing new skills lead to this internship being by far the best one I have done.
I felt very values by my colleagues. I was frequently asked about my opinions on matters and included in business decisions. My team treated me as a full-time member and made me feel very welcomed.
Through frequent and honest feedback my supervisors guided me throughout my internship. I learned many crucial things on the job myself, but my supervisors made sure to guide my learning experience and give inputs and support wherever needed.
Very busy. I was given many responsibilities and took charge of some aspects of the daily business. Balancing these parts with some more project-based work meant I was very busy each day. The team did however make sure to take some tasks off my hands in order to allow me to network throughout my internship.
I was given loads of responsibilities. After the initial training phase, the team trusted me to run part of the daily business and deal with the clients myself. Also, much of my project-based client work went straight to the end-client and thus I was trusted to perform well on bespoke pitches.
The skills I acquired during my internship assist me beyond university. The skills I developed the most relate to communicating and working more efficiently and help me everyday, whether when I am working on my thesis or when I calling for information.
The Company
The atmosphere was great. Everyone was highly motivated and focused, but never let the stress get to their head. Everyone was willing to take time for a coffee or tell a funny joke.
Part of the culture of the firm involves everyone speaking out about what they need in order to perform. As such, the internship seemed not seamlessly setup in the beginning. However, there is a logic to the entire process and once understanding, setting new things up worked fairly easy.
The team invested much time into shaping my development and trained my at the beginning of the internship. Adding to this, in order to foster my network within the firm, I travelled to a different Office in a different country for two days.

I was offered a job at the firm and took it. I am very happy to be part of the company once I completed my thesis.
The Culture
Us interns were very close and stay in touch even after the internship has finished.
Cost of living in Frankfurt is alright and the city offers many different opportunities for socialising.
Frankfurt Nightlife is decent and offers many different locations. From posh clubs/bars to cheap bars, the city offers everything one could be interested in.
The analysts organised many events for analysts and interns to get together. From dinners, to sport tournaments or go-carting, during my internship there were various opportunities to be involved in something.
