    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. It was a wonderful and an educational experience. The internship is well organised and gives you the opportunity to meet loads of different people in the asset management industry. The internship is a great way to kick start your career. JP Morgan Asset management is a top class employer to work for.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt extremely valued by my colleagues. During the internship, everyone was approachable and helpful throughout. People would schedule time from their busy schedule to help and answer any question. The team I was working in was very supportive and would make sure I knew how to do everything. Everybody in the team was friendly and made sure the interns were well included and understood everything.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • They were fantastic. I loved working in the team for that reason. Management and supervisors were extremely helpful throughout the internship from day 1. They made us feel included and spent time with interns to teach and ensure we understood the role we were given and what the team is all about. Throughout the whole internship management and supervisors checked in to make sure projects were working well.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Most days, there was plenty of work to be done. Working on projects throughout the internships or helping other members of the team. Some projects require more time than others. I was never too busy so there was a good balance and never felt overwhelmed by the workload during the internship.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I had individual projects to do as part of the internship but as time went on there was more work and additional projects to be done simultaneously. As the internship went on more responsibility was given to help out other colleagues on the team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I had come from a finance background. Throughout this internship, the educational experience I had learnt from college was a great help but I learnt more in the internship than during university. On the job learning has been much more beneficial. I have learnt a lot from my experience. the importance of soft skills is vital. My confidence to integrate and network with people was increased from this experience. After this experience, the internship has helped my presentation and time management skills.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the building was very calm and not stressful at all. I was expecting something crazy but everyone is busy working. Everyone is friendly, even just saying a hello at the coffee machine in the morning time. The office isn't too loud and noisy but its not silent and awkward, there is always people chatting and walking about.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship went seamless throughout. Everything was well structured. Events were well managed and were always organised in advance. From day one, the whole internship was structured and you knew where you were supposed to be either for events, networking or training. Even from the day the application was sent in. Everything was organised and nothing was left to last minute.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

Not just educational training but the soft skills , how to meet new people and network with people as well as presentation, time management etc.
