The Role
The internship was great from an intellectual and social perspective. I grew my network and learned how to maneuver a large firm like JP Morgan as well as learned hands on industry knowledge.
My team gave me various tasks and had me present some findings to Managing Directors. I felt they found my work useful and the work I did benefitted the team.
I met with my manager almost every day to discuss tasks and how I was doing. I was encouraged to explore the firm outside of my department in order to get a full scope of various job roles.
My managers gave me all 8 of my tasks right at the beginning and so I had to time manage myself to get them done. I liked this approach but it did feel like a lot sometimes.
I was given a fair amount of responsibility. I spoke freely and shared my opinion in team meetings and was tasks with jobs that would help the team.
I learned some great life skills - time management, team work, how to interact in a professional environment. All of which are readily transferrable to a university setting.
The Company
Sometimes we got busy and there were strict deadlines in which everyone had their heads down but for the most part my team was very open and energetic and I felt that I was having fun while on the job.
Very organized, I enjoyed the events set up by HR and I liked that we were kept on track with weekly meetings with managers and the mid internship review.
