    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Overall I had a great summer. The placement I was in meant I wasn't at all stressed as the office is laidback and the team were great. The free accommodation that comes with the placement is amazing and I don't think many other companies offer that. There is good social life within the interns.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone in my team was lovely and there is a really good, laidback environment in the Digital Lloyds office which I think is quite unique. Everyone in the team took 30 mins of their time to talk to me and tell me about what roles they're in which was a great way to get to know people.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was lucky enough to have a great line manager! Sometimes he was quite busy but there was another girl in my team (who was on the grad scheme 2 years ago) who was like my 2nd line manager and was very supportive and offered help whenever I needed it.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • My job was very 9-5, I always had something to do. When I didn't have work to do I made the most of meeting with other grads in different streams and there is also a huge LLoyds interchange and HIVE (Lloyds bank's version of Facebook) with plenty of things to read. Interns also take part in a Charity / Innovation challenge with other interns which you can put as much effort into as you wish.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a project that the team really needed doing just didn't have time to do. This was good as it wasn't like they made up work for me to do, and it was an ongoing project which meant it was quite important. But if I hadn't been their the team wouldn't have crashed!

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I received really valuable information on interview skills which will definitely help me in the future. Also being able to say I had a 10 week internship and (hopefully) will have delivered something will be great for the future. Also developed general office skills and etiquette.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There is a Hot desk environment which is generally more chilled office environment. Work wear is smart causal so you can wear whatever you wanted (so some people came in suits, some wore jeans and tshrit). It was easy to find people to go for lunch with and people often came round offering you food which is great - all in all very good!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Didn't have any major issues. The company who pays you is excellent at helping with your problems. It's a big company so everything runs pretty smoothly. Only issue and lack of Information I had was with regards to rolling off onto the grad scheme as they had disbanded the digital grad scheme (I was a digital intern) and we were given no guidance on what would happen after.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • If you are a first time intern with Lloyds you take part in a Charity Challenge where you have to raise money for the bank's current charity - this is a good way to meet interns and can be very fun. However if you are a second year intern you have to take part in an 'Innovation challenge' - my year was the first time they ran this and it was awful, everyone easily lost motivation to do it as it was a very hypothetical 'apprentice' style challenge which just seemed like a bit of a waste of time.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The graduate scheme salary and perks are generous (considering a lot of the jobs are 9-5), and after the grad scheme it is possible to roll off onto a Grade E (grads are grade D) which is very very generous salary for only two years after finishing uni! Because of this and the flexible working environment Lloyds offers I think it's very attractive.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the interns are put in student hall accommodation in London (Kings Cross/ Angel area) so it is very sociable. Someone's always doing something and drinks are organised regularly. It's easy to make friends in your accommodation and also in your office! Lots of people go out on Friday/ Saturday nights together.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is obviously expensive, but free accommodation from Lloyds and being able to walk to work (30-40 mins depending on your office) means you save A LOT of money! Going out for drinks and nights out is obviously expensive London prices but it hurts less when you've saved so much money.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • In London there are obviously lots of clubs and bars so you are never short of places to go out whether that be after work or on Friday/ Saturday nights. There is obviously a range of clubs with all different types of music, including live music. Lots of clubs can be expensive at the weekends.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I believe that Lloyds Banking Group offers activities such a sport teams (Netball and Football, Rugby, probably some more) which anyone can get involved with. Teams often go out for drinks (depending on the area) and you'll attend at least one offsite in your role. It's also easy to meet other interns who arrange social activities for everyone.
