    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had so much fun! Every single day was different and every day was challenging, exciting and interesting. I didn't want the experience to end. There were so many exciting opportunities and I got to get involved in some really interesting projects.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt as though they valued my opinion and felt part of the team. They invited me to all important team meetings. However I did feel like an intern, but this is to be expected.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a good amount of guidance by my manager but also allowed to get stuck in and control and organise projects on my own. He was there If I had any questions and happy to help but pushed me to do things myself, which is important.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Every day was different, but you are busy as you want to be. I booked meetings with people and got involved in other departments if I found myself with less to do. Most days however were busy and my calendar would be full of meetings and things that needed doing!

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given lots of responsibility as my manager gave me tasks to complete on my own and report back to him. I contacted suppliers, organised events and completed work for him. I never felt like I wasn't given enough.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learned a huge amount on this internship that I wouldn't have gained at uni and will be hugely beneficial in the future. We had personal development training, as well as strengthening my communication skills and confidence. I also learnt a lot more about the industry that I want to work in, and this will help in my final year of my degree.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was good, but dependant on the team you were in. My team were funny and up for a laugh and all seemed to enjoy their job, so the atmosphere tended to be positive

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think it's the second year it's been run so it isn't as organised as I'd expected, but also I loved the freedom of being able to organise my own time and make the most out of the internship, rather than it being too structured

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had personal development days focused on management and leadership and these were really useful. We were also allowed to attend extra workshops designed for all m&s staff.

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would love to work for m&s especially after such a great insight into the company. I will definitely be applying for graduate jobs at the company.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • All the interns were really friendly and we organised drinks on a Friday, we met up at lunchtime and took coffee breaks. I always felt involved and we had a good time.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Extremely expensive but I already live in London so very used to it!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Average. Paddington isn't a very exciting place to go out but the office is very close to central London so no problems finding somewhere to go

    3/5
