    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Really interesting and a great experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • I was in a lovely team, and felt very welcomed and that the work I was able to do for them was valuable.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • Guidance was great, and I was also talked through general work of the department and company as a whole that I was not involved in which was very useful to know.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Often there was a lull in workload when there was little I was qualified/able to do myself, however the team always tried to give me things to work on.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • I was given a great deal of responsibility within the projects of the team.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • Doing work in the financial world was very interesting as a student studying science. It gave an insight into a different field, which I would recommend students who had only had work experience in similar fields in the past.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The office as a whole was quite quiet and professional.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • Entering a team who had never had a work experience student before, it took them a while to gauge how much and what work they could give to me. However after a week or so everything ran much more smoothly.

    • I was trained to take on tasks other members of the team were required to carry out on a regular basis.

    • I was only there on work experience in one team, however having experience of the company and a good personal reference from them would certainly improve my chances of a job in the future.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • I was not aware of any other students there but was prepared for this as I was purely there for experience not the social scene. However if you were to go on an internship I think those are more group based and social.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • Central of London is not cheap...

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • I didn't go out at night with colleagues, however met up with friends in the are after work as the city was a convenient central place to meet.

    • Not as a temporary work experience student.
