  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • During the week, we were asked by members of the HR team for constant feedback to how the week was going which made us feel that our opinions were valued. We were also asked for our thoughts on various aspects of the company such as how the CSR projects could be further promoted and developing the gradate opportunities website to appeal more to students and graduates. Overall, we felt very welcomed and valued by the Danone team!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During the week we were encouraged to ask questions about the company and graduate programmes and everyone was very happy to answer and talk to you! During our preparation for our presentation, we were visited by a member of the Sales team to discuss the content of our presentation and ask any further questions, as well as receiving some insightful advice.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Halfway through the week we were given a day to prepare a SWOT analysis of a particular business unit (eg. Dairy) and a recommendation for developing that unit, such as a new product. We were given a data pack on the relevant markets which allowed us to improve our analytical skills. The activity also improved our presentation, teamwork and creative skills. Personally, it gave me a lot of confidence in presenting and answering difficult questions which I know will be very useful for my degree and in the workplace.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • When we first arrived we were given a Campus Brand Manager and Insight Week pack which detailed our itinerary for the week as well as extra information on the company and its different business units. Before the week started, we were given good information on travel and accommodation which meant the week went seamlessly.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Very friendly and welcoming! The HR team were lovely and the atmosphere was quite informal and casual, so we felt very comfortable asking any questions we had about the company. The general atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. People like to smile and are willing to talk to you. For me the most enjoyable part of this insight week was the atmosphere. I like the office layout which is very open.

  • In terms of personal training, the firm invested a decent amount through the numerous exercise as these were carefully designed with information regarding firms in different industries. Also, in regards to development, the company put a session on regarding employability skills which included some points about the different types of intelligence that could prove to be fundamental to my development.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The company did a great job in providing an insight into its operations and certainly interested me a lot more in the field than I was before I completed the day. However, I wouldn’t say it was too instrumental in helping me decide my future career path as this would require a longer period at the company and the opportunity to work in different areas etc.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were put up in a lovely hotel near the office which included breakfast, given lunch at the office and a generous allowance for other food expenses in the evening. We were also reimbursed for travel expenses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • During the week we met with several members of the HR team as well as others in the office. We were given presentations on each business unit by the relevant employees within the company so we were able to meet them and ask questions about that particular business. We also had the chance to meet people completing placements and the graduate programme to discuss their experiences.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The company was described as a very ‘people person’ firm by numerous employees during the networking session, whilst also being deemed a great place to work. A few activities that employees can get involved with that I heard included regular football matches between members of the company and work social gatherings such as pub quizzes.
