    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement very much. Apart from some negative aspects about the workload (or lack thereof) it was a great experience. The people were an absolute joy to work with, and the skills that you can learn from working at Ferrero are many. I would recommend it to anyone!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues, as they trusted me to do tasks for them and provide my own thoughts and insights into matters. Everyone was always happy to give feedback after delivering presentations etc.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of help & guidance by my manager, and I knew I could turn to anyone in my team to ask for help or assistance in whatever I was doing. Sometimes, however, my manager would be very busy and not that available to give guidance. There was nearly always someone else to turn to, though.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It very much varied. Many days I had very little to do, but at any point would receive requests from the team. Sometimes many requests would come in at once, leading to a very busy day. I didn't have that many 'regular' tasks, which again left me to find things to do myself.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a good level of responsibility. I had to deliver presentations to managers above mine, but I always checked through the presentation with my manager it make sure that it was all okay and I knew the content well enough to answer any potential questions. Any responsibility I had, I was always supported by my manager, so it was never too daunting as I could turn to them for guidance.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Received lots of training and left with a sound knowledge of the different aspects of marketing and various different software. My manager made sure I learnt the reasoning behind and background to everything I was doing, rather than just doing it. The placement allowed me to develop many transferable skills & experiences, that will definitely help post degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was a great place to work! Everyone was extremely friendly and like minded, and the wide open office space made for a very relaxed atmosphere. Personally, the only negative was that sometimes the office would be very, very quiet. However there was no problem in putting headphones in while you worked.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was quite well organised. I personally did not have a handover, as I was a 'new' intern, and this made the first few weeks a little difficult. As I didn't have a super clearly defined role, I was often left with not too much to do, but it was generally okay.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • You are exposed to the standard levels of training and development - however these are satisfactory in making sure that you are competent in all necessary areas of the job. My manager was personally very supportive of my personal development and invested time in making sure I was developing well.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It would be a great place to work in terms of the actual work and the people themselves, however career progression at Ferrero seems quite limited.

    2/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was not much of a social scene but there was some occasions in which groups of colleagues went out together. Eating lunch together in a big group everyday made everyone feel very comfortable and friendly with each other, however organising plans out of work just often seemed too difficult.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The office is in Greenford, however very few employees actually lived in Greenford, with most travelling in from London from the surrounding areas. Socialising also didn't happen very often in Greenford itself due to the area not being the nicest. Because of this living & socialising were just general London prices.

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There was no nightlife in Greenford, however the central and Piccadilly lines are only 15 minutes walk form the office, meaning you're close enough to the nightlife in more central London. The office is based very close to warehouses, and is not even in the main area of Greenford itself. Any attempts at finding nightlife were always made further into town.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were no real out of work activities put on by the company.
