    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement year thoroughly. I had a lot of fun working in my various teams as a Junior Business Analyst, Junior Project Manager and within the Digital Innovation Team.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues through the feedback I received on work, and within my quarterly appraisals. Additionally I had 1-2-1 meetings where we were able to go through my objectives and ensure I was completing them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a good level of support from managers throughout my placement. If I was ever stuck on work, I had a strong network of people to ask for help. Additionally I had a graduate buddy to talk to on a monthly basis.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Work load varied day to day. When I first started it was rather slow as I was a new employee and getting used to the surroundings however it picked up.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was very relaxed and friendly. There were "dress down fridays" every week.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Placement was well organised with my first role being sorted well in advance. I met up with my manager before my start date so felt as ease when I joined the company. Throughout the placement year I had support to sort out my other roles and ensure objectives were assigned.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing Graduate Programme with National Grid, conditional offer to return back onto this scheme which is nice to have.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The placement students were spread geographically across the UK so it was hard at times to organise social events, however we were able to see each other every few months.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Leamington living costs were relatively cheap as I lived in a shared house.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Leamington has a good level of bars and clubs in the town centre, there are also surrounding cities like Birmingham and Coventry which have more to offer.
