  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • At the start of the placement a lot of help was needed to settle. My supervisor helped me with this greatly as no project previously taken was of the same scale. He was very approachable with any issue and we had weekly meeting to discuss any issues and where to go next. As time went on less guidance was needed however the weekly meeting still helped greatly.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The work being undertaken did not have specific deadlines and so I got to work at my own pace. There was always work to be done, however I never felt overburdened. An added benefit was that there were no set working hours were flexible, i.e. You didn't have to come in to work for before 9 (You can miss rush hour)

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The work being completed was going to be used in products and given to customers. This meant the work being completed needed to be of a high standard and match up with the company’s reputation. As time went on more responsibility and independence of my work was given. Due to the high level of responsibility, completing the placement felt very rewarding.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As the work I got to complete is the same as the career I would like to go in to, the skills developed will help me greatly. Not only did they give me real world experience of what I learn at University, I can also use additional skills when completing the remainder of my degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a very relaxed atmosphere in the office, as is with the majority of the company. As I completed a summer placement many people went on holiday and so it could be a bit quiet on some days.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was organised well. Before I arrived the team had already set up a long term goal to complete made up of many small tasks for me to complete. The majority of tools were available from the go and everything was set up so any issues could be solved easily.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • My placement was part of a scholarship. Also included was the opportunity to attend a workshop which would further develop 'soft' skills that are not necessarily developed during my time at the company. This is a great opportunity as these skills are becoming more desirable and will help as I progress in my career.

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future employment prospects are high. The company is growing and has offices all over the world.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were many social events set up some just for placement students and others for the entire company. There is a sports and social club which encompasses a large number of events including a large number of sports, barbeques and trips to interesting locations, Frequent visits to the pub were made with other interns and my team.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The company is located just north of London and so is more expensive than most of the country. As the company is located in a small town near London transport can be expensive, however you can avoid rush hour which is great. Being a short distance from London is a great benefit with event always happening.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The company is in a very small town. There are a large number of pubs but not much else.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are lots of opportunities to undertake activities outside of work. The company has a sports and social club which can introduce you in to a number of new interests. As well as that there are lots of sports fields in the surrounding area. If you want to start a new activity and get enough interest from other people, the company will give you money towards it.
