    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Although the work was challenging, I found that this is not the type of jpb I want to do in the future, and so towards the end of the placement it was hard to remain motivated.

    • The team were all very friendly and welcomed me into the team straight away

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • Even when the team was very busy I felt my supervisor made an effort to answer my questions. However I did not see my manager very much.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • I had a fair amount of daily responsibility, that still left me with some scope for learning about the business as a whole and attending events. However when it was very busy I found it very hard to leave my desk, and ended up with a lot of unpaid overtime to my name.

    • I felt I was doing a real job within the team, and that came with real responsibility

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • My placement was quite related to my degree (economics) but most of the learning was self learnign, rather than structured content.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • Within the office people were very busy and so there was not too much time for chat, although I did find time to socialise with my whole team fairly regularly

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • The placement had regular intern events for development, and two very good social nights!

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • I felt the company held a lot of events for our benefit, to tell us about the graduatte scheme, and ensure we understood the business as a whole.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • For the ops programme, most people are offered a place unless they are very unmotivated, or do not wish to be offered a place.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • All the interns got on realy well, and we had regular lunchs, and organised our own social events as well as all taking part in the company events

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • I drove every day and so spent £60 on petrol a week. Free parking was a 20min walk away which was a bit annoying. Car parking is available for those who car share only.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?

    • Local area was realy good at night with plenty of clubs/restaurants

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • The graduattes on the scheme came up with many nights out to the cinema, football, and trips to the local nightlife.
