    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There really isn't anything that I could complain about from my time spent at JLL. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the firm and got involved with every different aspect of work that my team offered. I cannot fault anything from my experience and would be overjoyed to be given the opportunity again.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I really felt like a part of the team and felt that the work that I was given was challenging and, thus, was rewarding. I did not feel as though I got under the toes of anyone in the team and that they appreciated the work that I did. I felt that the level of work that I was given was the same level of work a graduate would be given and this gave me a right insight as to what graduate life would entail at JLL.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • At times I felt that I was picking things up a little slower than I should be but everyone in my team reminded me that at one stage they had also been in my shoes! This environment was great as I really felt settled and I took the opportunities to get involved in as much as I could because I knew I wouldn't feel uncomfortable if I had any questions. If I could score this section any higher then I definitely would! This internship has given me a great insight to the life of a graduate here at JLL.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I always had work to undertake from both my supervisor and from other members of the team. Different work challenged me but also applied a little bit more responsibility and pressure. I never felt like I was overloaded with work, despite sometimes having to spend a few more hours to complete things. It can get very dull with no work to do and this was not the case at any moment.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I think this is a hard question to answer. I was involved with projects at every stage and was given a lot of leeway. However, there is only so much responsibility an intern can really be given when liaising with clients. I feel that I was given a great amount of responsibility and got stuck in with lots of different projects for different teams. I have done internships elsewhere and would not say I have been given any more responsibility at any other firm.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training I have been given has set a really good foundation for when I return to university and complete my third year of studies. Not only this, having been able to use a number of different property relates programs and websites such as Argus and Molior, and being able to use these proficiently, I feel I will have a really great head start when going in to a graduate role and will be able to tackle a lot more from very early on.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone were really friendly, always smiling and no one complained about going in to work. I really felt part of the team and do believe I have made some good friends within my team and with the other interns. The ethos of the firm is one of the main reasons I wish to come back and work at JLL. We worked hard, but also made sure we had fun.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was managed really well. I think it's a great idea to put on presentations and get a clearer insight to other lines of the business and see how well the firm is doing overall. We also benefitted from market update talks and lectures at lunch time if we wished.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot of time was spent teaching me how to use many different online programs and using different excel models. Over the month this has taken time away from many different members of the team who have happily decided to help. It's a great feeling how willing so many people are. I feel really well set if I had to start a permanent position even tomorrow!
