    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Really loved the insight - the grad recruitment team were amazing and made us all feel so welcome every step of the way. The trainees were lovely and every team member without fail took the time to sit down and explain tasks to me in clear English - exactly what a non-law student needs!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued - I was given time-sensitive work which really made me feel like part of the team and like I was really being relied upon. Nothing I did felt superfluous to requirements, or as thought I'd been given it because no one could think of anything else to give me.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received two full days of training before the insight began which was a really great idea. We were taught all about various law research tools which, as a non-law student, I really valued. Not only did it mean that I hit the ground running at Nabarro, it really helped me with my other vacation schemes too.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The training we received was the most beneficial aspect of this scheme and although two full days seem long, I came out of the other side knowing it was definitely worth it. In addition, we had to do a group presentation and write a letter to a client, all skills that are utterly invaluable to trainees as a great insight into how working as a lawyer could be.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The scheme was incredibly well structured, with constant communication from the grad recruitment team. They were completely on top of things and were very accommodating when I had to make adjustments. Most of the departmental talks were run outside of office hours in the morning, but the breakfast more than makes up for it! and it allowed us to have far more contact time with our departments than I'd had at other vacation schemes.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere at Nabarro is incredibly friendly, and that feeling extended well beyond my department and the grad recruitment team. The involvement of associates at grad rec events was impressive, especially when at other firms it would just be trainees present to chat to. Here I felt like the Nabarro lawyers were really keen to get involved in the recruitment and were genuinely interested in the people that might soon be joining them.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The grad rec team's training days were invaluable, but so also was the advice given to me by my department. I really felt like no question was too stupid to ask, and I was able to strike up some brilliant relationships with other people in my department. It meant that I wasn't afraid to give tasks a go, and potentially forget things or make mistakes, which was great because I think that's how we all learn best.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • There was a real focus on being given real work, and talking to everyone in the department to get work, not just being silo-ed into your trainee's office and their projects. I felt very at home with the firm and as though I was already being treated like a full time team member.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I have definitely come away from the firm knowing far more about it than from just the website or an open day or any of the other thing you base your training contract applications on. A vac scheme with Nabarro is definitely the way forward. The presentation was also a great idea for getting us to engage more with the firm and the values it stands for.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I was given real tasks and therefore a real sense of what it is like to be a trainee at Nabarro. I felt included and that the work I was doing, no matter how seemingly unimportant, was contributing to something. I also spoke a lot with various associates and partners about the nature of their work too and consequently was able to get an idea not just about what it is like to be a trainee lawyer but also an associate or a partner.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • The renumeration for this scheme is brilliant, and far more than other vacation schemes I have participated in.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Definitely, the grad rec team organised a number of events with associates as well as trainees throughout our time there, and even a partner dinner. These were invaluable in meeting other members of the firm and talking to them about their work and why they had chosen to come to Nabarro.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Brilliant. The Grad Rec team even organised a networking event with Knight Frank so we were able to meet other interns at different companies to network and share our experiences. This was particularly well done at Nabarro because the nature of our work and that of Knight Frank was well matched, meaning we had common ground to begin with and build on.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 4/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend this vac scheme to anyone interested in a career in law because it is a great introduction to the sector. It gave me so many new skills and areas of knowledge that I have been able to go away and build on and use on other vacation schemes, and the support I received was outstanding. I would absolutely recommend it.
