About You
The whole scheme was planned to provide a variation of activities and insights into different areas of the business, making it extremely enjoyable and varied. The month has flown by as every day provided opportunities to get involved with different things and talk to people in different areas of the business to really gain an insight into how the firm operates.
The team that I sat on during my internship were all really welcoming and answered any questions that I had. They were also really helpful by suggesting people and introducing me to people who I could talk to with regard to more specific questions I had which was really useful. I also took part in a wide variety of tasks for the team that I sat with, helping me to feel valued.
Again, any questions that I did have were answered and both HR and my supervisor were extremely supportive. I also had a 'buddy' which provided me with another contact for support which was useful.
The whole experience of working in a professional environment really helped me hone my skills in areas such as time management and organization which will help me with the rest of my degree. Furthermore, with the events organized I could also improve my networking skills which will hold me in good stead for beyond my studies.
The Company
I thought the insight was extremely well structured as as I've said previously, a variety of insights were provided into different areas of the business which for me was particularly useful as I do not have a property background. A series of talks were hosted throughout the internship which I found to be really informative.
Everyone who I met during my time on the internship was extremely friendly and happy to answer any questions that I had. The series of events that were organized further added to this friendly networking atmosphere, and the talks that we attended really helped to emphasize the working values that JLL holds has a company, which helped me to understand their professional outlook.
I was able to get involved in a wide variety of tasks. Furthermore, we were given tailored sessions such as Presentation Skills and then consequently delivered an assessed presentation which really helped personal development.
By sitting on a team for a month I learnt a lot, not only about what that team does, but also about the graduate scheme by talking to the graduates on my team. This was then further built upon in the recruitment talk provided, so if I were to apply for a job and know exactly what the next steps would be.
As previously mentioned, we had a series of talks on different aspects of the firm and their ethics (e.g. the sustainability programme) which really helped me to understand their professional outlook.
As mentioned previously, the experience and my understanding of the next steps after the internship really gave me a lot to think about in terms of the future as I gained an overview of the different pathways I could take into a property career.
Everything Else
Yes, there were specific networking events for interns as well as events with my team which helped with meeting other employees in the firm.
All of the events I attended were well organized and attended, so they were really useful for networking.
Throughout the talks held, there were mentions of the various sports teams and charity work that the firm does. Furthermore, we were fortunate enough to attend the annual triathlon which highlighted the sporting opportunities available.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this as it was an extremely informative yet enjoyable experience. Furthermore, as I am not from a property background, I felt well supported throughout my experience and all the information provided helped me to really understand how the business works.
