    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Enjoyed it all the way -- from the beginning of the placement till the end there were loads of opportunities to experience different aspects of the international company, such as working and communicating with people across different regions, exposed to variety of engineering problems (from tests automation to RF), and working with amazing people.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The company got an open culture and everyone is part of a huge family -- events are organized throughout the placement to introduce those people who don't interact with each other on daily basis. It is easy to approach people who got more expertise in some specific areas, as everyone is helpful and friendly -- it is the culture of NI.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • It is always possible to ask for advice, either your manager/team leader, or anyone more experienced and people are gladly helping. The initial training which covers the basics of engineering knowledge and companies' structures and procedures gets everyone to the "high standards", but if anything comes up -- there is always someone to talk to.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Sometimes the workload is higher, sometimes there is time to be spend on self-improvement. It depends on the amount of people in the office, part of the year or events around. Most of the time the balance is perfect which allows to work on your own pace, as well as leaving some time for self development and improvements -- which is one of the companies priorities -- investing into employees

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Amount of responsibility is very personal evaluation. If you do something it is up to you to ensure that the job you do is successful and brings value to people, customers or company. It all depends on the task or project -- if you are given the task then there is someone who would like you to do it well; but if you come up with your own project it is all yours.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills learnt and developed are going to help throughout the studies and any other future jobs. The training received is accredited internationally and valued everywhere. Same for certification exams which have been taken. The overall knowledge covers majority of areas especially related to my degree (Electronic Engineering) and are going to be used during 3rd and 4th year projects in university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The culture of the company ensures that it is possible to work hard, and play hard, during the working hours too. The atmosphere is always positive and everyone is open to do whatever is fun. There is enough freedom to be able to work efficiently and fun, games are being organized and people are free to do what they feel is right.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything from the start of the placement till the end was thought in advance, ensuring that necessary training is undertaken before major projects and start of the actual day-to-day work with customers. There are specific projects planned throughout the year to ensure that different aspects of the placement are experienced.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • One of the companies values -- is it invest into its employees. It is done throughout the placement as free time is used to learn new "things", training is provided throughout the placement to ensure that development continues all the way through. There is an opportunity to attend specific lecture depending on the areas of interest,

  • There is an opportunity to stay with the company after the placement and finishing university; there are much more opportunities to work with companies customers and alliance partners ensuring that the knowledge acquired is going to be used if there is a wish and need. As company is international it is possible to get into different branches in regions.
