About You
It was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed making new friends and experiencing the GS culture, particularly the principles of GS which are essentially caring for its people and excellence.
I actually really appreciated the fact that people took time out of their work to help us understand technical terms and procedures through insight sessions.
Everyone in my division was always willing and available to help and offer valuable advice. There were also sessions on how to develop your soft skills.
As I study Statistics, I do not think the knowledge I learned will help me in my uni studies but the skills I developed will certainly change the way I approach my uni work (in a good way).
The Company
The 2 weeks were extremely well-structured with insight, work shadowing and skills sessions.
I think that people at the firm were excited to see eager-to-learn interns and we were always busy.
The firm made sure that we had every facility to develop ourselves and the right persons to help us do so.
I talked a lot to people actually working full-time in my division and through work shadowing sessions, I got a really good idea of how the different sub-divisions work.
The insight was immense in understanding the GS culture, which is so different from other banks. I think this is what makes GS the best.
After the spring internship, I really have a good idea of how a bank works in general, its importance and the implications of what happens on the market.
Everything Else
As I was outside London, I stayed in a really nice hotel. further, The GS spring weeks is the only one that is paid which is awesome.
There were drop-in sessions where representatives of different sub-divisions talked to us about what they do and you also schedule a meeting with anyone by sending emails.
It gave me a really good insight of GS is, what people do and meet new people, which is very important.
There was a session where we learned the community works of GS in which employees participate.
definitely. You will learn so much in a so little amount of time. The spring week is vital if you want to have a career in banking afterwards.
