    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • It was a mixed experience, I was very daunted at the beginning when I compared myself to other interns and I didn't enjoy that. There was also a lot of information to process and combined with the new style of networking at GS I struggled until I figured out what I had to do, and how to do it. Once I achieved this the process became very enjoyable.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Quite a lot, people on the whole were more than happy to help, in any way possible and to take time out of their day to talk about what they did. That along with the expenses made me feel pretty valued as a lot of people invested time and effort into us.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A lot, but I had to go and find it. The best came from the lower end of the spectrum with people who could empathise more with interns. My buddy was fantastic, always willing to quickly reply to queries even when busy, and took the time to check in with me. However our group project leader had minimal support for us, which at time meant we struggled but lead to a more independent process.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Hugely. Much more confidence, and now understand how to network a lot more. And time management.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very in the first week, and with a lot more freedom in the second week it meant the onus was on us to structure what we wanted from the week. At the beginning of the week it was hard to understand what/why we were being taught in the lectures but it made sense when we went into the line.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Great, it was interesting to see the GS culture slowly adopted by the other interns to support each other.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • a lot, with different talks and exercises to help us throughout the week.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Hugely, I now understand the firm a lot more, and how all the roles fit into it. Even if I came into contact with a lot of roles that I did not know existed prior to the internship.
