About You
The insight was full of networking activities of all kinds, teaching sessions, shadowing and desk placements, all of which were very enjoyable.
Everyone at the firm makes themselves approachable and useful to you. Nobody ever refuses to help you or meet up with you, no matter how high up the corporate ladder they are. Everyone takes the time to explain concepts-no matter how basic- to you.
There is a large support network from everywhere. We are assigned buddies and/or mentors. Also, you can informally make anyone at all your buddy or mentor. HCM is always there for you and various support groups and networks exist to make you feel more comfortable and assist you in whatever way they can.
This programme will ensure that you learn time management and prioritization.
The Company
We received our schedules well ahead of time and had e-schedules on Outlook to use to help structure our day.
Highly professional, very friendly, very busy, highly exciting. Never boring!
I had a buddy, a mentor, a manager and other colleagues who were there to explain concepts to me and take me through work. There were a lot of highly skilled professionals who came to teach us about what they do and how they do it.
The countless insight sessions about all aspect of the firm, the work shadowing, presentations and desk placement enabled me to understand to a very large extent, what a full-time job here would be like.
The insight, the website, the information sessions, the shadowing and the desk placements all operate within the parameters of Goldman's culture. It is highly noticeable.
The content tells you very clearly what each job involves. It is impossible to leave without having a very strong sense of whether you want to do a particular job or not.
Everything Else
Goldman catered for the cost of my return flight, my hotel accommodation and my transportation between the hotel and the airport on the days we came in and out. I was also paid a very reasonable amount each week.
There were countless networking activities from the very first day. There are very many affinity groups which held events at which networking took place. Also, booking time in people's calendars is a deep part of the company's culture.
They were very encouraging, professional and enjoyable. There was lovely music and amazing food which improved the atmosphere.
Various speaking sessions, the company's website and interaction with Goldman's employees make it very clear that there are many CSR, sporting (and other) activities outside of work.
There is no better place to learn how to be professional, how to manage your time, how to do your job excellently well, how to push yourself, how to network and how to be the best version of yourself.
