The Role
It was really enjoyable and allowed me to gain and improve skills that will be useful in the future.
I felt like one of the staff members and my opinion was always considered. I was also invited on social/out of hours events and this made me feel like one of the team.
If I needed anything there my workplace supervisor was always happy to help. At the beginning I was given a lot of guidance but as the year went on I gained more confidence and was allowed to be more independent.
Each day was different and we could sometimes be quiet and other days it was hectic! On quiet days I was allowed to catch up on coursework so I was never bored.
At first at operated mainly under instruction but I as my confidence grew I worked more independently and was given more responsibility.
The skills I developed will help me in future jobs. I gained generic work skills such as communication, working as a team, working independently, punctuality and health and safety.
The Company
The atmosphere was very friendly. Everyone was very hard working but there was always time to have a few laughs.
Very well organised!
The company covered the cost of the external training course I asked to go on.
Above 25 days holiday
Very appealing if that was the kind of career I wanted.
The Culture
There were no other placement students but there was a great social scene amongst my colleagues and there were a few meals and nights out.
I lived at home so this kept the cost down. Socialising isn't very expensive as I was in-between Scunthorpe and Doncaster.
There is a lot of clubs and bars in Doncaster.
Yes although I would have preferred more variety.
