    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work was quite good, but often was boring and felt like it was pointless. However, the facilites at NG house were fantastic. The free gym and table tennis etc are amazing and the subsidised shop/restraunt are excellent. NG are great employers, the work was just sometimes a little odd. It felt like we didn't have much we could do on occasion.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My team of 5 are all good friends now. We are all the same age doing the same thing etc. The other members of staff around us were all very welcoming and happy to help.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Given lots of assistance when required.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Spent days waiting for software unable to do anything. When it arrived we were then very busy trying to catch up. Towards the end this improved but was a big issue at the start of the placement.

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given some as our data is being kept and will be used by data teams etc.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Quite a bit, mainly about how power companies operate etc.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • 3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • A lot of issues here. A lot of time was wasted due to poor organisation. Some specific events were very well organised, but day to day work was not.

    1/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Too far in the future to really decide yet.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Great set up. 20 guys doing the same placement, and more people doing other placements. Great social scene.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Reasonable. Found a great land lord though who gave us a very good deal.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • A few good clubs but often quite empty as students are home for summer.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • A few.

    3/5
