The Role
I enjoyed my placement very much. I joined a great team who helped me to learn and progress a lot with my placement projects. Along with that, I made many new friends who were currently in the industry and also who came from other universities. There were also many networking activities organised by the company.
I felt that I am actually one of the full time employees in the team. Even though I was an placement, I was given set of projects at the scale of a full time employee. My team valued my thoughts and contributions very much during meetings. There were also things like welcome drinks and dinner with the team.
I would like to say I was given a large amount of support and guidance by my manager and some team members during my placement. It felt to me of the firm that everyone was willing to help and patient to give advice. In my opinion, the amount of support/guidance is given correctly.
At the start of my placement, I thought it was quite a good balance between work and life since I was able to finish my work around the normal time that everyone finishes. However, nearly the end of my placement, I was having a deadline since I would not able to continue to work on my project after I left. Therefore, I was working more than normal time.
I was given a great amount of responsibility from daily supporting users to completing a large project. I think the amount of responsibility is about right since it gave me a clear view of how everything will be like if I join the firm. For the daily supporting, it is more flexible but for the project is more strict.
I would say it assisted me in many different aspects and it helped me a lot. From a time management perspective, I learnt a lot as to push project forward rather than leaving it for a while. There are other skills I acquired and improved during the placement that I found very useful such as the teamwork skill and communication skill.
The Company
The atmosphere in the office is more of a helpful and supportive atmosphere. People liked and prepared to help when I was facing problems and they usually gave very good explanations and directions on a particular problem. Also, the users that we were working with are great and they understand our difficulty and patient.
In my personal opinion, the placement is well set up. During my placement there are two projects with clear description and I was able to understand not only how to do the projects but also why we need these projects. This is very helpful as it not only gave me insights in the team but also gave me experience on dealing with other teams.
I would like to say the firm invested a lot in new joiners. With lots of other placement and summer interns we attended talks given by people from the leadership level. These talks gave us an insight on the whole firm and the thoughts from the firm leaders. It is also worth mentioning that the firm organises trainings on communications and activities which helps us to improve teamwork skill.

I would say the future employment prospects are very good since it was improved from last year. The firm introduced a new graduate programme. I think the firm provides a wide and high standard platform for everyone to accomplish their career goal. It would be good to work in the firm and I am looking forward to that.
The Culture
In the firm there was a team for placements and graduates from our uni. While talking to other placements, they seemed found it useful.
The cost of living and socialising in the area would be kind of balanced. Obviously, this depends on which restaurants you are going to. It could be very cheap and there were a lot of take aways and many different cuisines. There were also large shopping malls with very posh brands. The firm also has its own discounted canteen with high quality food with low price. So I would consider the cost be fair.
During my placement I didn't stay too late with our team in that area but there were a lot of bars. I would say it maybe fair.
There were many opportunities to get involved in activities, one of them is through community team works. This gave me one day experience with members from other teams to work on a community project and it was great fun. This project was also organised by a charity, and it felt good to help people outside the firm.
