The Role
My overall experience of the internship was better than my expectations. I have received extensive training both soft skills and technical skills that helped me during my internship. The best thing about intership was that I was working on real project not some isolated useless project to spend time on.
From the very beginning of the internship I was part of the team and I was given responsibilities similar to full time employees. All work I had done was valued because I was assigned to real project that other team members continued to work on after I left
I was assigned buddy and mentor that were there for me for the duration of the internship. I had received a lot of support from them especially my buddy who was also my project supervisor. Apart from that I had received a lot of support from other members of the team.
Apart from my main project that I was assigned at the beginning of the internship and that kept me busy throughout the internship we had a lot of workshops, trainings and talks that perfectly balanced our daily schedule
I was given same responsibility as a full time employee as I was assigned to a project that was meant to help our clients in their daily job. Work I produced was greatly appreciated from both my manager and clients
I had developed advanced technical/programming skills that will definitely help me in my final year as well as a lot of soft skills eg. presentation and communication that will be very useful when presenting my final year project
The Company
Atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. Whenever I had any problem I had more than one colleague to ask for help and they always helped me. Company has culture very open to sharing knowledge and helping each others
Generally internship was very well organised without any major problems. We received invitations for all events in advance and if anything changed we were notified so we could plan our daily schedule.
We were provided a lot of specialised trainings in my case programming/technical plus a lot of soft skills trainings. Throughout the internship we had access to internal knowledge sharing systems as well as online trainings and courses that we could take
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
I was offered full time graduate position and already accepted it so I think Goldman Sach is great company to work for it's culture, opportunities and a lot more
The Culture
Yes we had a lot of unofficial social events and a lot of colleagues met after work to play some sports or just to go out to pub to socialise and relax
I am studying and living in London so I had same living/travelling cost as during the year. Regarding socialising London is quite overpriced city but it's not something unbearable especially when working for a bank
Nightlife in London is generally very good with a lot of opportunities and firm has offices located in the hearth of the London with close proximity to all bars and pubs
We were given opportunities to join different societies within the company that organised a lot of sports or different kind of events throughout the internship plus there are a tons of opportunities to spend spare time in London
