About the role

As an Assistant Department Manager under the guidance of your Department Manager, you will take responsibility for all operational areas within one branded department of our business. You will learn how it operates and is managed to its brand standards.

Your role will involve recruiting and interviewing prospective new members of your team, monitoring costs and staffing levels, undertaking appraisals and overseeing training and development. Additionally you will be on the lookout for continuous improvement within your department to help drive and maximise sales and profits, and ensure cost controls are in place.

We will see you as the customer service champion within your unit. So, you will need to be passionate about customer service and someone who can encourage and lead your team to go above and beyond your high expectations.

What's more, you will be keen to get stuck into any task that is required, including rolling your sleeves up and making a Costa coffee, a Greggs Sausage Roll or a Burger King Whopper just to name just a few.

Who are we looking for?

  • Predicted a minimum 2:2 in any degree discipline
  • Proven experience to work in a fast paced, customer service environment
  • Experience in retail or catering
  • Self motivated individual with strong communication skills
  • Previous experience in driving sales and maximising all business opportunities
  • Experience within a supervisory or managerial role would be beneficial
  • Previous experience of working with a high street/well known branded company
  • Must be flexible with location and brand
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence and have own transport
