Position Overview

The Industrial Design Team is a key component of new product development for Stanley Black & Decker’s Tools and Outdoor business. You will gain a vast amount of experience whilst working on a broad variety of innovative, user fo-cused products across several of our key brands. These include, DEWALT, CRAFTSMAN, STANLEY FATMAX, and BLACK AND DECKER and across product portfolios including Power Tools, Outdoor Products and Home Products.

As a member of the Industrial Design Team, you will work closely with talented and experienced Designers, Engineers and Program Managers. To provide end user insights, innovation, industrial design, final surfacing, digital visualization and prototyping support for our many global brands and their markets.

We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic, out-of-the-box thinker, who can visualize new design directions, work cross-functionally with adjacent global teams, and execute production-ready design solutions.

What are we looking for?

  • Second Year BA/BSc University Student seeking a placement and intending to return to full education after the placement.
  • Studying Design related bachelor’s degree and have achieved at least 2:1 to date
  • Exceptional sketching and visualization skills. (Experience using a Wacom a plus)
  • Excellent creative problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with common design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchbook Pro, KeyShot)
  • 3D solid and surface modelling skills (SOLIDWORKS, CREO, CATIA) an advantage
  • Ability to work as part of a close team, capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple priorities
  • Team Player
