Environmental Standardisation and Support Placement

Join us at RWE Offshore Wind for a year in industry placement and gain invaluable insight into this truly unique and innovative sector. We’re one of the largest developers and operators of offshore wind globally and we’re on a journey of significant growth driven by our Growing Green investment strategy and commitment to net zero. With 10 operational offshore wind farms across the UK, and multiple development projects in the pipeline, there has never been a more exciting time to join us.

We can offer you:

  • A chance to work alongside world leading experts as a core member of the team
  • Real, hands-on experience, assisting us to solve complex problems – we will value your innovative and fresh thinking
  • A chance to be embedded in projects from day one, enabling you to apply your knowledge and rapidly acquire new, marketable skills
  • An attractive salary (circa £22k pa) and an extensive range of benefits
  • Support, training and mentoring to get the most from your time with us – we’ll work with you to understand your career interests and ambitions

Your opportunity

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated environmental science/management student to join our collaborative team at our Humber Gateway base/Grimsby hub. We’re committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations, so in addition to gaining a broad overview of the sector and the day to day operations of our facility, you’ll play a valuable role in implementing our environmental strategy and action plan. You’ll develop a great working knowledge of European and UK Environmental legislation and drawing on the support and expertise of colleagues.

You’ll get the opportunity to:

  • Take the lead on a project to standardise all environmental documentation across all of our UK Windfarms
  • Collaborate with a range of stakeholders across the business e.g. consents, sustainability, H&S, engineering to understand the interdependencies and impact of our environmental strategy
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies as required
  • Use a variety of tools and techniques to undertake data analyses
  • Communicate and present our environmental plan to a range of internal stakeholders

There will also be opportunities to go offshore and see our turbines in action – we’ll make sure you have all the basic training required to do this safely.

About you

  • It’s likely you’ll be studying environmental science/management, either in the penultimate year with an option to undertake a full year in industry placement, or perhaps you’re coming to the end of your programme and can commit to a full year before pursuing further study. We’re looking for people on track to gain a 2.1 or higher
  • Comfortable with data analysis
  • You’re confident in your communication skills – both written and verbal – and would enjoy the opportunity to hone your presentation skills
  • You can demonstrate that you are able to co-ordinate your own workload, be highly organised and meet tight deadlines
  • You have a good knowledge of basic Microsoft packages (e.g. word, excel, power point, outlook)
  • You’re comfortable working in a team environment
