UK Category Placement - Tetley

A 12-month Category Placement with Tetley Tea in the UK Category Team – part of the wider Tata Group.

Having recently developed a new TV campaign and gaining growth with our Premium tea and ready to drink offerings, now is the perfect time you for to be a part of our journey.

At Tetley, you’ll take ownership of your own projects that are aligned to the business needs and be given ample opportunity to showcase and develop your skills, the only thing you won’t be doing is making cups of tea!!

You’ll work alongside some of the best people in the UK beverage industry to develop your Category, Marketing and business acumen skills that will set you up for future success. Your placement will begin with a full induction to our business, with continual on the job training and support provided.

What is involved in the role?

Become an integral member of the UK Category Team, running and supporting activities such as:

  • Working with the Category Team to be the sole source of all continuous data insight for the UK
  • Drive knowledge of UK grocery market through analysis of market activity
  • Analysing performance of new products through creation of regular performance trackers to understand drivers of performance
  • Understanding UK shopper behaviour through the interpretation of UK Loyalty card insight (Tesco Clubcard and Nectar)
  • Support Category team in ad-hoc projects with UK retailers – giving you opportunities to meet and present to key retail customers (e.g. Tesco, Waitrose, Coop, One Stop) and to develop client account/buyer relationships
  • Providing marketing teams with UK data insight package to drive future Brand Plan creation
  • Monthly liaison with external data providers (Nielsen and Kantar) to ensure perfect delivery of monthly data
  • Provision of all regular UK monthly reports to the UK commercial team - that cover the different tea segments, channels and markets

We are looking for ambitious, highly organised, team-driven people who are hungry to learn and achieve goals. In short, you will need to be ready to work hard. Previous marketing or category work experience would be a bonus and a good understanding of marketing or category principles is required. Interested persons should be studying towards, or have just completed, a relevant degree.

Core skills

  • Fast learner and self-starter.
  • Strong organisation, time-keeping and able to prioritise effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Good numeric and analytical skills.
  • Be fluent in oral and written English and strong communication skills
  • Project management
  • Ideally able to use Adobe Photoshop.
  • Drive for results and be action orientated

Benefits & training package

A full-time paid internship for a period of 12 months, beginning July 2022, with 25 days holiday.
