Wealth Businesses Internship

Wealth Businesses comprises of Coutts and Affluent which includes business areas such as NatWest Premier, Private Client Advice & Investment Services (PCAIS), Drummonds & Child & Co. Our vision is to be the best Wealth Manager for the UK by providing a personalised service to our clients.

By bringing together our Wealth Businesses, we aim to increase the depth of our customers' and clients' relationships with us as their families' needs evolve and change throughout their lives. While continuing to grow banking and lending, we also want to ensure we are meeting their investment needs as well. We will do that by focusing on our customers' and clients' needs throughout their lifecycle: to save, borrow and invest their wealth, and to live financially better lives from their early years through to post retirement and at every stage of their wealth journey.

About the programme

Our aim is to give you a taste of what it’s like to work at Coutts or Affluent, along with valuable experience to help guide your career choices.

On our Relationship Management programmes, you’ll assist Private Bankers and Wealth Managers to deliver relationship support and advice to high net worth clients.

If you join our Asset Management programme, we’ll introduce you to how financial markets work at a high level, including portfolio management and construction. You’ll start developing a deep understanding of the specialist advice and services we provide, including trust and estate planning, philanthropy, wealth succession and protection.

We’ll reward you with a starting salary of £21,500.

The programme starts with an induction, where you’ll learn about the bank, meet your fellow interns, and get the chance to talk with colleagues from around our business.

You’ll then begin a unique eight week placement, where you’ll get involved with our live day to day work, and take part in a business project. This will give you the opportunity to complete research on a topic and come up with recommendations for improvement or change to support our ambitions.

Whichever programme you join, you’ll also work on a Social Impact Project. This will help you to develop keys skills covering team working, planning, creative thinking, business plan writing and problem solving, all while contributing to a valuable cause.

For the full eight weeks, we’ll pair you with a ‘buddy’ and a line manager, who’ll help you grow your network and provide guidance and support.

At the end of the placement, we’ll assess you on what you’ve learned. Complete this successfully, and you’ll be offered a place on our 2023 Relationship Management or Asset Management graduate programmes, where you’ll carry the skills you’ve learned from your internship forward, taking the next exciting step in your career.
