Summer 2022 Vacation Scheme - Hong Kong

Our four-week Summer Vacation Schemes give you the chance to gain some first-hand experience of life at BCLP and the work we do. We run two each year at our Hong Kong office – one in June and one in July – each for around 6 students.

You will be given 'real work' which could be anything from attending a client meeting or call as well as listening to talks lead by Partners where you can learn about the different practice areas on offer. All interns are asked to take part in our monthly ‘In the Know’ sessions where trainees and associates give presentations on hot topics relevant to their departments and the legal sector as a whole.

You'll also get to attend a series of partner-led talks and workshops, have a sit down lunch with partners and meet regularly with your supervisor. It will all help to develop your skill sets and your knowledge of the firm.
We also give you a taste of the social life in Hong Kong with a series of 'happy hour' Friday drinks with some ping pong, a charity day out of the office, a dinner with Partners, Yoga Fridays and much more.

We are also looking for you to demonstrate that you have the skills and behaviours which would expect from our trainees:

  • Hardworking and well-rounded individuals
  • Willingness to learn and be curious
  • Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness
  • Creative with problem solving
  • Ability to see the wider context of the work that we do for our clients
  • Intellectual ability
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Relationship building and strong interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to a career in law
  • Resilience
  • Research and analytical skills
  • Someone who takes ownership of self development
  • Teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Time management and organisation skills

“I gained a really good appreciation of what a trainee actually does on a day-to-day basis. The format of the vacation scheme was new - the firm had added more networking opportunities and presentations, so we really had to manage our time, balance competing tasks and prioritise. The work was challenging but interesting, and now I know that I can do the work expected of a trainee.”
