General Management Placement

Who you are

You have excellent communication skills with a particular strength in writing. With strong interpersonal skills and a friendly approach, you’re polite and deal with others in a tactful manner. Your enthusiasm for work is infectious and really motivates colleagues to get the job done. You have good planning and organisational skills and enjoy solving problems.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be based in our route businesses function and learn about the four main areas of a working railway: the customer; operations; business services and the wider industry. You’ll experience key customer and supplier relationships with train and freight operating companies, understand the complexities of the railway, and find out exactly what it takes to get passengers to their destination safely and on time.

Your placement will involve working closely with the experts that help us deliver a reliable train service and give you an insight into the diverse challenges we face. You may also be involved in progressing business development opportunities to support future business growth.

Entry requirements

You must be in your penultimate year and be on course to achieve at least a 2:2 in any degree discipline.
