Research and Development Placements - Derby

Join us at our Research and Development site near Derby where you’ll be welcomed as one of the team, working alongside some of the best minds in the business who will encourage you to think differently and share your ideas while supporting you to develop your skills and gain valuable hands on, real life experience in a fast moving global business.

Chemical Synthesis

As a student within the Chemical Synthesis department, you will use your creativity and problem-solving skills to discover new and exciting chemistry through organic synthesis and process development. You will be regularly interacting with commercial, analytical and performance testing departments across the globe to interpret analytical results and create formal experimental write ups.

Applied and Strategic Research

Within the Applied and Strategic Research department, you will use your creativity and problem-solving skills to develop and test novel chemistries and new technologies. You will be part of a diverse and innovative team of skilled professionals who you will work with on a daily basis, as well as other students. Throughout the year you will be working on a range of innovative projects with different focus areas under the guidance of an experienced research scientist and you will evaluate the performance of the products which you have helped to develop.

Blend Test Services

Working within the Blend Test Services department, you will be part of a skilled team of lab technicians, chemists and senior researchers, who perform, develop and create a diverse set of physical and analytical chemistry tests to evaluate our products. You will be responsible for the accurate performance of physical and analytical tests on Lubrizol products and will report test findings to internal customers. Your work will help to influence industry standards for vehicle fluids by developing new tests and increasing understanding of current practices.

You must be studying towards a chemistry related degree and be achieving a 2:1 or above.
