Information Technology Placement

What will you be doing?

Information Technology underpins every aspect of our business and it's crucial that we react quickly in a constantly evolving, digital landscape. You'll be supporting strategic initiatives and projects within the Volkswagen Group's IT department by building strong relationships with our brand stakeholders. You'll gain experience in project management as well as exposure across multiple teams within IT to deliver value through sharing knowledge, insight and support.

What's in it for you?

As an undergraduate on one of our placements, you'll receive a £17,500 salary, as well as a new car every six months (as long as you have a full, clean UK driving licence). You'll also receive 27 days' holiday – plus bank holidays – a discretionary bonus, an award-winning pension scheme, flexible benefits allowance, employee well-being support, an on-site restaurant and shopping discounts. Upon completion, you'll also have the opportunity to be considered for our Graduate Programme.

What do you need?

To be successful in this team you'll be able to manage complex projects, using data analysis and insight to inform key decisions. Organisation of time and resource is a pivotal element of this role. You'll be a methodical thinker that can bring people along on a journey by communicating intricate technical concepts simply and clearly.

Our placement is open to any student at a UK university who is eligible to work full-time in the UK for twelve months from June / July 2021. You should be on a sandwich degree or course which offers a one-year industrial placement. We have a duty of care to our people and wouldn't want you to spend a large amount of time commuting, so we prefer our undergraduates to be based within a 20 mile radius of our Milton Keynes head office.

What's the assessment process?

Once you have hit the apply button, we will send you a Numerical and Verbal reasoning assessment to complete. Upon successful completion of these, we will invite you to complete an online video interview so that we have a chance to get to know you a little more about you.

Our final step in the journey would be for you to attend a virtual assessment centre, where you will take part in a range of activities based on real life tasks. You will also have a chance to meet some of our managers and also the existing student placement cohort to find out more about them and the scheme.

This process is designed to help us both work out if a placement here is the right step for you. Successful candidates will be offered a place soon after the assessment centre.
