Legal Work Placement
As a legal work placement student at Irwin Mitchell, you will spend two weeks in either the personal legal services (PLS) or business legal services (BLS) stream, experiencing two different areas of law and getting to know the business more intimately.
What will I do?
During your legal work placement, you will work in tandem with the paralegals, assisting the associates, senior associates and partners. You’ll be given practical experience and a real insight into the unique culture of the nation’s leading full-service law firm.
What do you look for?
We’d love to hear from candidates that have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for the law and possess the ability to be flexible and responsive to changing business demands and priorities. We also look for candidates who have the capacity to use their initiative, think creatively and have good problem solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and attention to detail, both written and verbal.
Recruitment Process
- Online application form (closing date 12th January 2020)
- Video Interview (take place during January and February 2020)
- Assessment Centre (take place during February and March 2020)
- Legal Work Placement in June and July
If candidates are successful and gain a place on the legal work placement, there is also an assessment at the end of your two weeks that contributes towards the overall decision regarding training contract offers for 2022.
We adopt an anonymised screening process to further reduce any doubt of unconscious bias when reviewing applications.
By applying for this role, you are automatically considered for a training contract to commence in 2022.
