IT - Applications Support

What does IT do?

Are you wondering how IT fits into the EDF Trading business? IT underpins absolutely everything that we do, and we continue to invest in our employees, into the building of IT services and capabilities, and the underlying platform (be that on-premise or public cloud). IT is what we do.

Our culture is something we all try hard to cultivate by being inclusive, sharing, empowering our staff, broadening our responsibilities and providing first-class training opportunities to ensure that skills remain current and relevant.

The IT organisation is one geared to providing the closest interface for our commercial business, with delivery teams dedicated to specific business or support function lines. This provides individuals with unparalleled access to the business, to learn what we do and to offer new and improved ways of doing so.

Technology wise, we are in the enviable position of having a bespoke ETRM (look it up if this is new to you) that provides us with ultimate control over our roadmap; allowing us to set our own direction based on what is important to us as a company – not what a vendor insists is the best way to proceed. Supporting this is a broad network of both internally developed and vendor-supplied systems (it doesn’t always make sense to build your own) that provide a rich ecosystem with continuous opportunities to enhance.

Sure, we are an energy trading company that operates 24/7 in both the physical and financial markets of Europe, but we also recognise the need to enjoy what we do and have fun through building a fulfilling career as well as developing lasting relationships both within IT and across the business (made much easier as we’re all on the same floor).
