Interior Design Placement

This is an excellent opportunity for an Interior Design student who is looking to propel their design career within a world leading Hospitality Company. You will support on a range of design projects for our hotels across Europe with an opportunity to learn on the job, and gain practical understanding of interior design in the hospitality industry.

A bit about the team

In this role you will support the Interior Design Team for Europe, reporting to their Director of Design. The team cover a range of design projects including renovations, conversions, refurbishments and new hotel openings across the entire Hilton brand portfolio, establishing design direction and key brand identity elements specific to the European market.

A bit about the job

The role includes generic design support across the design team and will allow you to own and manage your own small projects over the course of the internship. Main accountabilities can be broken down as follows;

  • Supporting with design projects across Europe, including new developments, conversions and renovations of existing hotels
  • Working closely with the Director of Design to establish design direction and key brand identity elements specific to Europe
  • Preparing design narratives and material boards
  • Meeting suppliers
  • Managing the fixtures, furnishings and equipment (FF&E) library
  • Managing the project image library for Europe, Middle East and Africa

What are we looking for?

As with any job, we do have certain criteria that you will need to meet in order to be considered for this amazing opportunity. These are detailed as follows;

  • Must be in your second or final year of an Interior Design degree.
  • Must be able to start in June 2020 and available for the full 12 months.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK. If you are a non-EU national then you will need to be studying at a UK university in order to be eligible to undertake a placement here.
  • A strong portfolio of Interior Design work
  • Able to demonstrate a strong desire to progress a career in Interior Design, preferably within the hotel industry.
  • Proactive with a strong willingness to learn, and prepared to work unsupervised or with minimal guidance.
  • Good at planning, keeping records and attention to detail
  • Able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills
  • Above all you must have a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, be proactive and resilient.
  • An additional European language to English would be advantageous, although is not essential
