Audit & Assurance Internship Programme

The audit stream is the largest service stream within BDO.

As a part of the Audit team you’ll become an indispensable adviser to our clients whether they are listed on FTSE350 or AIM, a national not for profit organisation or a fast growing privately owned business with overseas operations.

Working in Audit means much more than just analysing numbers, we really get to know our clients by building close relationships with key individuals there in order to help them and their investors to better understand their financial performance, business systems, culture and the risks they face and then to provide crucial advice to them in these areas.

Our structured development programme will help you to develop your career in whichever direction it takes by supporting you to study for your professional qualifications (ACA or CA) whilst working in different industry sectors. You’ll work as a part of a team, all of whom will be highly supportive, and there are plenty of opportunities to socialise together as well.

Many people choose to specialise in an industry sector, perhaps even gaining a reputation as a leading expert in their field, or alternatively choose to become a generalist usually in one of our regional office, looking after clients across a range of sectors. Each day will be different, working with a variety of clients with much of your time spent at the client’s premises talking to the different functions there to understand the business being audited.

If you want even more variety, then in your third year there is the possibility that you could get involved in an overseas secondment to one of the firms in our international network across the 156 countries in the world in which we operate.

We never stop investing in your development, whether you are a new joiner of an experienced Partner, to make sure you continue to make an impact here and with our clients.

Working in audit, as well as equipping you with technical skills, will provide you with broad business and commercial skills which will really help you be successful in your career and open up many opportunities.
