As a placement in our Commercial team, you’ll spend an invaluable year working right at the heart of our business – with real responsibilities, and the chance to work on real projects. You’ll gain a unique insight into our exciting and dynamic industry, with exposure to many other functional areas and senior colleagues, as well as the opportunity to enhance your professional skills through an extensive and tailored programme of learning and development. You’ll have lots of fun during your time with us, and we’ll ensure you get the support you need every step of the way. Plus, if your placement goes well, you could be fast-tracked to an offer for when you finish university.

What you’ll be doing

Product Planning
In Product Planning, you’ll be making sure we have the right products on offer to give our customers the widest variety of holidays to choose from.

Throughout your placement, you’ll be responsible for supporting the planning and product activity, helping to implement the product strategy for a set of resort destinations within the TUI UK portfolio. This includes ensuring we have the right mix of hotels, destinations and concepts on offer to match customer demand.

You’ll play a fundamental role in analysing the cost base of your resorts and then setting the pricing/margin strategy accordingly to ensure your destinations meet both financial and strategic objectives.

You’ll also work with a wide range of teams across the business to help deliver both our web content and printed brochures, ensuring our products are promoted correctly and accurately across all of our distribution channels.

You’ll monitor competitor activity and performance, as well as analysing and predicting market trends, and will be responsible for monitoring sales and quality to ensure you have the right product mix on offer for our customers both now and for future seasons.

Trading (Cruise or Beach)

In Trading, you’ll be ensuring our products are available to our customers at the right price, at the right time, in line with demand and competition.

Your placement will focus on either Cruise or Beach holidays, identifying the best way to sell our beds and aircraft seats to maximise profits. You’ll have responsibility for a number of cruise ships or holiday destinations, enhancing both flight and cabin/hotel performance.

You’ll do this by reviewing and analysing sales trends, while manipulating our yield management system to make effective recommendations to deliver your resort/ship trading strategy in line with market conditions – think the stock market, but for holidays!

You’ll monitor and react to demand in the competitive holiday market, taking relevant pricing actions to maximise opportunities and overcome any barriers to sales, minimising risk to our profits. Your decisions will directly drive the price offering to our customers and ultimately feed in to the overall financial performance of TUI UK.

During your placement, you’ll also regularly interact with other business areas and have the opportunity to make recommendations and have discussions that will aid to drive both current and future business strategy.

What we are looking for

Our placements are suitable for those who are on a sandwich degree course, looking for a 12-month placement to commence in August 2020, and due to graduate by September 2022, as you’ll complete the industrial placement in your penultimate year of university.

You’ll be on track for a 2:1 or above in any subject, and have a minimum of 120 UCAS points under the 2017 tariff system (extenuating circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis).

We're looking for agile-minded, innovative thinkers, who are keen to learn and take on new challenges. Those who have a flair for collaborating with others, a natural drive for results, and are able to think strategically about the business. Adaptable individuals with a talent for thinking analytically, and a focus on providing unrivalled service to our customers.

You’ll also have a passion for business development, as well an interest in the travel industry.
