FPGA based Smart NICs Placement

Intel Cloud Platforms and Technology Group is seeking to recruit interns starting in the summer 2020. This is a 13 month fixed-term placement suitable for students currently studying a degree course in relevant disciplines, and is targeted at 2nd year students enrolled in a 4 years bachelor's degree which includes a year in industry.

The roles are based in Intel's office in Marlow, UK. The team focuses on the development of smart NIC, reusable IP components for smart NICs and turn key design services for top customers and strategic opportunities. The work focuses primarily on the use of Intel FPGAs.

The successful candidate will work alongside our architects, development and verification experts and will help within the context of the projects, in one or more areas including development (RTL coding), modelling, high level description languages, hardware validation and verification infrastructure.

The successful candidate could either be a software engineer student with an interest in hardware development, or a hardware engineer student looking for some experience.

Qualifications

  • Part of a course in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline in the field.
  • Skills in the following domains would be beneficial:
  • Understanding of computer network protocols and/or CPU architectures.
  • Understanding of hardware development process.
  • Basic RTL knowledge (Verilog, SystemVerilog or VHDL).
  • Basic understanding of a programming language, e.g. C, C++, and programming principles and techniques.
