IT Development Intern

Supporting this is a broad network of both internally developed and vendor-supplied systems (it doesn’t always make sense to build your own) that provide a rich ecosystem with continuous opportunities to enhance.
Sure, we are an energy trading company that operates 24/7 in both the physical and financial markets of Europe, but we also recognise the need to enjoy what we do and have fun through building a fulfilling career as well as developing lasting relationships both within IT and across the business (made much easier as we’re all on the same floor).
What are my responsibilities?
You will work within the IT Development team with exposure to development and support of custom-built cross commodity energy trading and risk management systems. You will be involved in providing EDF Trading with a competitive advantage through bespoke and vendor IT systems, which are critical to the operational foundation of our business processes and strategies.
You can expect to be given responsibility from the outset and opportunities to become involved with innovative projects. This will require research, commercial awareness, interactivity with the business and the ability to ask the right questions. You will develop practical solutions, propose changes and present the results of your work to a panel of executives.
What do I need to qualify for this internship?
You will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science or a related technical field. You will have experience in Software Development and coding in a general-purpose programming language.
Ideally you will have experience of some of the following technologies:
- SQL Programming (Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T/SQL or similar)
- Microsoft .Net (Preferably C#
- UML or similar design modelling techniques.
You will be flexible, adaptable in your approach and have excellent communication skills. You will have the ability to contribute positively in team working environment and collaborate well with peers, managers and business teams. You will have the energy and drive to succeed, be committed to excellence in your results, curious to challenge the status quo and innovative in your thinking.
