Business Improvement Internship (Aerospace)

Working within the Lean Airbus Operating System department of the Broughton site, this is your chance to influence and change in an established wing manufacturing facility. Using the Airbus Operating System (AOS) and Airbus project management tools the you will have a chance to work within a specific team, whilst also gaining exposure to different product lines.

Tasks and Accountabilities:

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include;

  • Support the AOS team in deploying the tools of the system to improve
  • Support business governance reviews and projects, ensuring important milestones are delivered on time, on cost and on quality
  • Lead the Involvement Scheme in the departments; capturing ideas to improve processes and performance and engaging shopfloor operators
  • Provide lean coaching to Operations managers and their teams
  • Drive and implement change in a aircraft manufacturing environment
  • Collaborate with all business levels, adapting to changing landscapes within the business

Required skills:

Please note our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. You must be an undergraduate for the full duration of the placement, studying towards a degree in one of the following:

  • Aerospace/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Business
  • Lean
  • Managing personal time, such as goals
  • Manage customer expectations and support commitments
  • You can present to a variety of audiences
  • You have a mindset with creativity and analytical skills
  • Focus on removal of non-value added activities with a strive for efficiency
  • Have a customer focus and the ability to integrate well into the business
  • Confident and resilient with ability to challenge the status quo with blue sky thinking
