Marketing Assistant Placement

What we do

Our Marketing office is an interesting and fast-paced working environment and works closely with the Admissions team. Understanding our current and prospective parents and pupils, communicating, and sharing our knowledge and expertise in education is key. We are a high profile school with tremendous academic results. Due to this, we receive a huge amount of interest from prospective parents, other schools and the broader education sector. The work of our marketing department is growing rapidly and that is where you come in!

Marketing Assistant Placement

The Marketing Assistant will assist in the implementation of all aspects of marketing the school and support in associated administrative duties. Working closely and reporting into the Marketing Manager, this role is for a period of one year only. After successful completion of the placement, the individual will return to their Higher Education institution to complete their studies.

What you will do

  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager on various marketing projects that include design, advertising, events and online activities for Guildford High School
  • Assist with the design and production of a wide range of printed marketing materials to include newsletters, booklets and flyers (both in house and through design agencies)
  • Update the school website and social media channels as required
  • Help maintain and update the school’s photographic library and marketing displays
  • Take photographs of school events and activities
  • Assist the Old Girls’ Association by maintaining the database and producing communications
  • Handle day to day enquiries to the Marketing and Admissions department as and when required
  • Assist with key marketing and admissions events including visitors’ mornings, as and when required
  • As a member of the wider school support team, provide occasional general administrative support, particularly during the school holidays and covering the receptionist’s breaks two days per week during term time
  • Carry out such duties as the Director of Admissions or Headmistress may reasonably request

Eligibility Criteria

  • Currently studying a degree-course related to marketing, which has a one-year industry work placement included in the course, and aiming for a 1st or 2:1.
  • Aspiration to work within a marketing environment
  • Experience in producing artwork, knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop essential, InDesign desirable)
  • High levels of written and oral communication skills and good attention to detail
  • Strong literacy skills with a creative flair and an eye for design
  • Demonstrate an ability to manage projects, focus on achieving objectives, adjust priorities, manage time and follow up on action
  • A minimum of English and Mathematics GCSE grade A-B (or equivalent). English A’ level is desirable
  • Excellent telephone manner and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
  • Confident IT skills including all Microsoft Office packages
  • High levels of discretion, tactfulness, confidentiality and awareness of data protection
  • Personal confidence and energy
  • Personal warmth to gain confidence of pupils, staff, parents
  • Appropriate levels of professional, personal presentation, suitable to represent the school
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
