Corporate Relations Industrial Placement

Job Purpose

We are seeking a Corporate Relations Assistant to join the McDonald’s Corporate Relations team based in Shoreditch, London. The successful candidate will work on a range of communications projects for International Operated Markets and the Development Licensee Markets including coordinating the monthly media and activity reports to be presented with the senior leadership team, ensuring message alignment across markets and being a connecting point between teams. Another part of the role will be conducting research and writing communication materials to support public affairs announcements. There will also be an opportunity to support European press office activities.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with great writing and organisational skills who enjoys working in a busy environment and who has a strong interest in corporate relations, communications and public affairs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Co-ordination of the monthly media and activity reports for over 25 markets alongside collating all markets entries for the monthly Global News Calendar. Including gathering of information, writing content and creating a summary report for the Global team
  • Liaising with the markets to stay on top of planned communication activities and ensure messaging is aligned with global standards
  • Dealing with press enquiries, monitoring news coverage and sending out official statements to the press
  • Drafting and writing of separate content for internal communications and other projects as required, such as media briefings
  • Be an admin user for an online platform, assist with training team members and managing content
  • Assist the team in the distribution of management communications, such as quarterly results
  • Supporting in the co-ordination of the Quarterly Business Report, helping summarise and collate content
  • Ownership and maintenance of digital image library and support on sourcing images and other materials for senior management presentations etc.
  • Maintenance of contact details and email distribution lists
  • Assist in organising ‘Town Halls’ for the office, a business meeting to share best practice amongst the company
  • Conducting stakeholder research for various public affairs topics, identifying areas the business can get involved

Knowledge and Experience

  • Good standard of writing and literacy required as well as good verbal communication skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to work accurately and to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be creative and generate ideas
  • Strong administrative skills
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office
  • Good general PC/IT literacy
  • Experience of working on intranets/websites or other online tools is an advantage
  • Good working knowledge and comfortable navigating social media/social networks (Facebook, Twitter etc.)
