Environmental, Health and Safety Industrial Placement

Collins Aerospace is a global leader in aerospace and defence. There are few – if any – aircraft around which don’t have our equipment in them somewhere. Our site here at Marston Green deals with the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) of hydro-mechanical and electronic units for some of the world’s biggest airlines.

This means you will get great exposure to how an Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) Team strives to provide a best-in-class support service to over 330 employees. For someone who’s bright, switched on and willing to learn, it’s the best possible place to begin a career within the EH&S function.

We are looking to recruit a 12 month Industrial Placement student within our EH&S function at Marston Green, Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to join a world renowned aerospace Company and an EHS team which is continually leading the way to promote a healthy and safer workplaces for all employees.

The roles and responsibilities are:

  • Progress key environmental projects to help site achieve 2020 goals; company-wide sustainability goals; monitor key indicators e.g. water, gas, electricity.
  • Prepare documentation for internal and external audits and maintain evidence files.
  • Track progress and support closure of corrective action plans; developed from audits.
  • Organise various meetings and maintain appropriate minutes and actions.
  • Manage improvement actions for key Health and Safety elements e.g. fire safety.
  • Support team continuous improvement activities and become improvement lead (ACE Pilot).
  • Provide regular progress reports.
  • Following suitable training, provide EH&S support to site personnel, including EHS inductions and in-house training.
  • Represent EH&S team at various site wide meetings.
  • Be an advocate for health and safety on-site and always be willing to learn and apply critical knowledge.

The position has a competitive salary along with 25 days paid annual holiday.

IMPORTANT: Candidates must be able to commit to the full 12 month placement (apart from the above holidays).
