Data & Analytics Assistant Placement

We’re looking for two Data and Analytics Assistants to join us for their sandwich placement year, starting in September 2019.

With us you won’t just observe; you’ll be liaising with our member firms to collect data and gain insight to help form the basis of our analysis, aggregating data and assisting with presenting this data in an innovative and engaging way, and you will also participate in the running of various conferences and events. You’ll also have the opportunity to study towards a professional insurance qualification during your placement year.

We have two placements available and they will enable you to gain some real responsibility, making your time with us memorable, worthwhile and contributing towards your future employability.

Where can this role take you?

With a supportive environment and the fantastic exposure you get to lots of people in the industry and the knowledge you’ll build on a range of regulatory and policy issues, the ABI is a great place to great place to set you up for your future career.

What training and benefits are offered?

On your first day we’ll take you through a full company induction. You’ll then have inductions to get you up to speed with anything from Events to how our finances work, plus one to ones with relevant colleagues. Everyone goes on the CII Introduction to Insurance course and will receive plenty of on the job training. We host various Staff Learning Events throughout the year and you will be able to attend relevant ABI and industry events.

Additional training will be driven by your own personal needs and ambitions and we have a range of courses as part of our Learning and Development offering.

We’re looking for:

You’ll currently be a student studying a sandwich degree with numerical focus such as Mathematics, Statistics or Economics, or have an element of these in your course. It is essential that you are a capable user of Microsoft Excel and as part of the interview process, we will ask you to complete an Excel task.

We’ll support you to apply what you’ve learned on your course so far in the workplace so we’ll be looking for you to show a keen interest in the Insurance sector, or be willing to develop your existing knowledge. It is important that you are organised, with the ability to prioritise and manage several pieces of work at any one time. Effective written and verbal communication skills will stand you in good stead for this placement.

Your industrial placement must be recognised or supported by your university and you must be able to start the placement in September 2019.
