Financial Planning Industrial Placement

Start Date: September 2019

As a Financial Planning Industrial Placement your time will be split between working on client affairs, training and commencing study towards professional exams. At the end of your placement you will have a good understanding of the work of a qualified Financial Planner and will have taken the first steps towards achieving Certified and Chartered status. You will support the team who work with High Net Worth and Ultra High Net Worth clients and their families advising them on all aspects of their personal financial planning.

Your typical day will vary between:

  • Learning the financial planning advice process and developing the technical and soft skills needed to work with clients;
  • Nurturing client relationships through meetings and developing an understanding of their financial position;
  • Preparing client advice reports;
  • Attending in-house training;
  • Studying towards your professional qualifications.

Over time, you will build a portfolio of your own clients and advise them in all areas of their financial affairs, including the ongoing management of their investment portfolios.

Academic Requirements

Strong academic performance is important so we know that you’re ready to take your professional exams.

  • On track to achieve 2.1 or above in any degree discipline
  • Minimum of 112 UCAS points. This is based on the new 2017 UCAS Tariff. You can calculate your UCAS points here.
  • Grade B or above in GCSE English Language and Maths.

Training & Support

We will fund your first step towards the CII Regulated Diploma in Financial Planning qualification during your placement year.

Should you wish to undertake further study towards the Diploma, we will support you with exam leave. Should you return to Mazars following graduation, we will reimburse any exam fees you have paid during your placement year.

Your professional qualification is only part of the story at Mazars; we support all of our trainees with a blended approach to training and development including; 1:1 coaching, group technical training from internal and external sources and soft skills training.

You will be supported by a mentor and an appraising manager to keep your career and aspirations on track.
