Multimedia Technician Placement

You will be involved in supporting the provision of multimedia across the school, including both the Junior and Senior schools. Your role will be varied from day to day and include larger video projects and smaller jobs. You will be working closely with the Technical Director, Marketing Director, IT Technicians and Network Manager. You will also assist other departments across the school, particularly the Drama, Music, Arts, Modern Foreign Languages and PE departments.

Job Tasks

  • Manage the signing in and out of the schools multimedia equipment and transferring and backing up media from cameras, keeping them charged and in good working order
  • Work with the Technical Director and support him in his role in delivering audio visual support and resources across the school
  • Work with the Director of Marketing to create video and photographic promotional resources for the school
  • Work with the Drama Department to create or adapt multimedia to use in school productions
  • Work with IT staff to enhance the media suite, production Macs and the provision of online resources through Click View
  • Assist running weekly film making and photography clubs for students
  • Film, take photos and edit events, productions and activities around the school for various purposes
  • Undertake some graphic design work, as and when required
  • Assist computing teaching staff in virtual reality sessions
  • Develop training resources and materials for staff and students and assisting in CPD training sessions for staff

Tasks - this year

  • Assist in the further development and roll out of our online video platform Click View across the school
  • Assist in transferring and uploading video content onto Click View as per staff requests
  • Assist in researching and putting together budgets for equipment to further enhance the multimedia equipment provision
  • Develop a digital animation club for students
  • Film, edit and produce promotional videos for Drama, PE and Music departments

This role is a full time, term only contract for the duration of the school year. Inset days are regarded as part of term time and as such you will be required to work those, and sometimes additional working hours to assist with filming events, productions and extracurricular activities, for which time in lieu may be taken.

What you need to succeed:

  • Currently studying a degree-course related to marketing, which has a one-year industry work placement included in the course, and aiming for a 1st or 2:1.
  • Aspiration to work within a multimedia environment
  • A demonstrable aptitude for solving technical problems
  • Excellent Communication skills: particularly the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical users.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • A flexible approach to duties will be needed as the range of tasks is wide and varied
  • Strong knowledge of IT packages: Office, Outlook, Windows
