About YouView

YouView is obsessed with finding new ways to transform and improve the daily viewing experience of UK audiences. Launched in 2012, we are a joint venture between BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, BT, TalkTalk and Arqiva – some of the UK’s leading media businesses. We’ve already unlocked a world of content and services for over two and half million households, combining Live TV and On Demand with cutting edge technology to bring our viewers the most brilliantly simple way to find and watch the TV they love.

Data Insight Analyst Internship

Now in 2.5 million homes, we are starting to harness the immense amount of data available from our connected devices, a key part of our continued evolution and growth. From this data, we can learn about consumer viewing habits, inform product decisions, and help drive our business strategy.

The Data Insight role will work in the Product team to:

  • Proactively analyse data to unearth consumer trends and / or issues relating to our consumers’ viewing experience.
  • Deliver timely management and board-level reports, recommendations and critical insight to the business, informing future business strategy.
  • Develop and utilise Excel, SQL, and Looker skills alongside Google Analytics to manipulate, interrogate, interpret, ‘slice and dice’ data to transform it into business intelligence. This will provide Product & Operations teams with clear visibility, accurate insight, and ultimately, firm control of issues and product usage.
  • Compile the Product Quality Dashboard for Senior Management on a monthly basis.
  • Assist the Data Product Manager in documenting and defining improvements in data capture and reporting.

You’ll perform a range of data & statistical analysis duties using Excel and other reporting tools, working with various teams to understand the context and significance of the data. You’ll also acquire valuable experience, using your full repertoire of analysis & team-working skills to deliver exceptional work, and provide management reports to the business.

Skills and Experience

Currently studying a Mathematical, Data Science, Statistical Analysis, Econometrics, or Economics degree (ideally having just completed your penultimate year of study), you’ll also possess the following skills and expertise:

  • Highly personable and approachable with a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of key business drivers.
  • Exceptional communicator with strong written and numerical skills.
  • Capable statistician who is passionate about data analysis.
  • Experience of any data analysis tools through study or work experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced-level Excel skills.
  • Flair for data interrogation and able to present complex ideas in a simple format.
  • Natural curiosity for consumer behaviour and what makes people tick.
  • Expertise within statistical analysis techniques.
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-motivated to drive your own workload.
  • Highly competent with MS Office Suite e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
